Berlin Trainee Newsletter
The book entitled Zpravodaj berlínský stážistky (Berlin Trainee Newsletter), subtitled You'll never know if you never go, is an author's project born out of personal experience. An authentic story about a semester in and around the German capital, written during an internship at the graphic design studio Realgestalt. This original reportage oscillates between a travel diary, a Baedeker, a collection of humorous short stories and an almanac of letters that began with an e-mail correspondence with home, culminates in the form of a thesis and aims to become a book trade piece. The collected texts, supplemented by risographed illustrations, are hand-bound into a travel book of two hundred and sixty-four pages to spread the joy experienced and motivate people to consciously experience their own journey. In a story that is as multi-layered as Berlin's street walls, the reader learns, for example, the difference between kebab and opera, what there is to experience in the “hipster, student and Turkish” districts or how to get from Berlin to the Baltic Sea by bike.
This project was defended as a Master's
thesis in June 2023. The illustrations were exhibited in the solo exhibition at
Mamacoffe in Prague and the book took second place in the Book in Progress
competition. Want to know more? #zpravodajberlinskystazistky.
